On behalf of the Rollins School of Public Health, the Goizueta Business School, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing and the entire Emory University Community, welcome to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Celebration 2002. We are pleased that you have elected to include our activities as part of your tribute to the life of Dr. King.

Our program, this year, recognizes individuals, groups, and organizations that have, and continue to promote excellence among the youth in our communities. When defining excellence, the Program Committee chose to focus on both excellence in process and excellence in outcome. Consequently, we have chosen to recognize those who have achieved excellence as well as those striving towards, supporting the efforts of those seeking to achieve, and creating an environment that fosters excellence. Specifically, we are celebrating excellence in Promoting Peace, Academic Enhancement, Sportsmanship, and Arts.

Today the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is celebrated as we recognize those from among and those who serve our youth - the next generation of torch-bearers who will continue to hold high the light of justice, freedom and equality.
