Customized Courses

Over the past years, individuals representing national and international agencies and Ministries of Health have heard about our short courses in epidemiology and in a number of instances representatives of these groups have participated in one of our regularly scheduled courses. A number of these groups have asked us to develop and offer a similar course customized to a selected group of individuals either in Atlanta, elsewhere in the United States, or overseas. We recognize that there may be a defined group of health professionals who would benefit from participating in a short course in applied epidemiology, but it may not be possible for them to travel to Atlanta to participate in one of our regularly scheduled courses. In responding to these requests, we have developed customized courses of anywhere from one to five weeks duration dealing with applied epidemiology and biostatistics, public health surveillance, computer training using epi info program and for some instances with emphasis on certain diseases or activities.

The course is customized for the specific educational needs of the specific group. They may follow the format of the courses offered in Atlanta but may also be different depending upon the objectives of the sponsoring institution. The sponsoring institution pays for the expenses.

The faculty that we use for customized courses in Atlanta is drawn from the same personnel that participate in the regularly scheduled courses. The courses offered in other countries have as faculty, personnel from Atlanta from 2 to 4 in addition to utilizing appropriate personnel from the hosting institution.
