Significance of Trauma System Development to Public Health and
Emergency Preparedness
Kathleen Toomey, MD, MPH, the Director of the Georgia Division of
Public Health, moderates a panel on the role of emergency care as
a part of public health preparedness. The speakers include: Dr. David
Feliciano, Chief of Surgery at Grady Health Systems, Dr. James Augustine,
an emergency physician at Emory, Dr. Gage Ochsner, Chief of Trauma
Services and Surgical Critical Care at Memorial Hospital in Savannah,
Dr. Michael Hawkins, Chief of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care, and
Professor of Surgery, Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine at the
Medical College of Georgia, and Mr. David Bean - head of the Office
of EMS in the Georgia Division of Public Health. (Lecture given on
