Psychological Readiness and Resilience: Integrating Public Health and Clinical Models

Dori Reissman, MD, MPH, Senior Advisor for Disaster, Terrorism and Mental Health with the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the CDC, facilitates a panel discussion on the integration of mental health and public health preparedness. In addition to Dr. Reissman, the panel features: Daniel Dodgen, PhD from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA); Nadine Kaslow, PhD from the Grady Health System and Emory University; Betsy Gard, PhD from the American Red Cross; and Ann Norwood, MD from the Department of Health and Human Services. The speakers each describe their own vision of a paradigm for mental health preparedness, and field questions from the audience related to: community planning; populations with special needs; mental health response; research and data collection; and the role of government.
