Terrorism Preparedness … Plans, Products, People, and Practice

Julie L. Gerberding, MD, MPH, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, discusses public health preparedness and summarizes some of the lessons learned since the experiences of Fall 2001. The lessons that Dr. Gerberding discusses fall into the broad categories of competency, coordination and collaboration, capacity, communication, and compassion. Dr. Gerberding also discusses four critical elements of terrorism preparedness: (1) plan, (2) products, (3) personnel, and (4) practice. (Lecture given on November 20, 2002)
