Disaster Preparedness for the Emergency Responder – An Oxymoron?

Betsy Gard, PhD, President of the Georgia Psychological Association, discusses organizational and systemic issues pertaining to emergency responders in light of a disaster. Through the telling of personal experiences and video segments from the perspective of responders and victims, she presents the challenges that face a responder and suggestions to improve preparedness and response during an emergency event.
