Monkeypox 2003

Jeff Davis, MD, Chief Medical Officer and State Epidemiologist for Communicable Diseases for the Wisconsin Division of Health, discusses the 2003 monkeypox epidemic in his state. He describes the timeline of the epidemic, the series of symptoms that ultimately led to a diagnosis of monkeypox, and the surveillance efforts that were launched upon recognition of the outbreak. His discussion is followed by brief presentations from Gene Matthews, JD, legal advisor to the CDC, and Russell Regnery, PhD, from the National Center for Infectious Diseases at the CDC.
