Agroterrorism

Corrie Brown, DVM, PhD, is the Coordinator of International Veterinary Medicine for the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. Her discussion focuses on vulnerabilities in agriculture as they relate to both accidental and intentional disease outbreaks. During her talk, Dr. Brown describes: notable outbreaks, both in the U.S. and abroad; the protocol for when an outbreak is suspected or being investigated; and how the agricultural system is becoming increasingly globalized. Finally, she explains three recent studies which have focused on agroterrorism preparedness, and what has been done in light of those studies in order to decrease vulnerabilities.
