Course Description
This course in public health preparedness, epidemiology, surveillance and control of Corona Viruses directed at public
health professionals includes presentations and discussions of:
Emerging respiratory viral infections,
Methods of Surveillance for COVID-19,
Surveillance of COVID-19 in the USA and selected countries,
Testing, Case Definition and Diagnosis of COVID-19,
Outbreak Investigations,
Modelling to Predict Disease,
Domestic and International responses to COVID-19
Public Health Preparedness,
Table-top exercises/case studies will be worked on to apply epidemilogic theories discussed and
Prerequisites: Familiarity with the vocabulary and principles of basic epidemiology. Participants
are recommended to read/complete CDC's Principle's of Epidemiology or
self-study course or equivalent course in basic epidemiology
