The Emory University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology is hosting a symposium in New York City on March 7 devoted to research topics related to congenital childhood cataracts, a leading cause of preventable blindness in many developing countries.

The symposium date coincides with the online publication of the Infant Aphakia Treatment Study results paper by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Opthalmology on March 6th. The paper is titled Comparison of Contact Lens and Intraocular Lens Correction of Monocular Aphakia During Infancy: A Randomized Clinical Trial of HOTV Optotype Acuity at Age 4.5 Years and Clinical Findings at Age 5 Years.
